Rules and Conditions of Entry

A.  General

  1. The exhibition is open to U.K. residents only (including Isle of Man and Channel Islands)
  2. Wherever possible entries should be made online.  If this is not possible please use this form.
  3. All entries must be photographic in nature and the photographer must own the copyright of all the elements of the picture.
  4. Havant Camera Club accepts no liability for breach of copyright.
  1. Each entrant may submit up to four entries in each section.
  2. Entries accepted at a previous Havant Open Exhibition, or so similar as to be almost identical, are not eligible and will be disqualified.
  3. The same image cannot be entered in more than one section or class.
  4. Any entries received after the closing date will not be eligible.
  5. Havant Camera Club reserves the right to select which of the accepted images are exhibited.
  6. The right to reproduce any entry for exhibition and promotional purposes (without fee) or to display it on the Club’s website will be assumed.
  7. No print or projected image that has been accepted for exhibition can be withdrawn during the exhibition.
  8. The organisers will take every reasonable care of the entries received but cannot accept any liability for loss or damage, however caused.
  9. Winners may keep their trophy for one year or until the next exhibition (if earlier).  They are responsible for returning the trophy safely.
  10. The results will be posted on the Club’s website www.havantcameraclub.co.uk, with the individual results sent out as soon as possible after judging.

B.  Prints

  1. If you have entered prints on-line please ensure that a copy of your online entry form is included with your prints.
  2. Prints must be presented in 40cm x 50cm mounts.  Any entries which do not comply with this size will not be judged.
  3. The print should bear the entrant’s name and print title (corresponding to the entry form) on the reverse of the mount.
  4. If you wish to have prints returned and cannot collect them please ensure that they are submitted in suitable return packaging with an address label and with either a pre-paid return postage label or sufficient stamps to cover cost of postage.  Please do not send cheques to cover postage costs.  PRINTS WITHOUT RETURN POSTAGE WILL NOT BE RETURNED.
  5. Prints cannot be returned until after the exhibition has closed.

C.  Projected Images

  1. Uploading images via the Club website is preferred but if you unable to do this then images must be submitted on a CD.  E-mailed images will not be aaccepted. Images must be submitted in jpeg file saved in the sRGB colour space. Images in landscape format must be no more than 1400 pixels wide.  Images in portrait format must be no more than 1050 pixels high. The overall file size should be no more than 1MB
  2. The filename must be in the format of Class(underscore)Yourname(underscore)Image Title (e.g D1_josmith_rainy day.jpeg).  Spaces are allowed in your title but please do not use any special characters (*, ! etc).  Images not submitted on-line should be written to the CD in a single layer as data.  The CD should be labelled using a CD pen with the entrant’s name, postcode and telephone number.    Only one person’s entry can be submitted on a CD.  Multiple CDs can be posted together.   No sticky labels please.
  3. CDs cannot be returned or forwarded.  They will be destroyed after the exhibition has finished.

Definitions  - (please note these are different to previous years)

Colour:  A print of more than one colour.  Nature and monochrome images are only eligible for this section if they do not meet the definitions below.

Monochrome: A black and white or monochrome image including those modified by the addition of a single tone to the entire image.  Any image with the selective addition of one or more colours is not eligible for this section.

Nature (prints and projected Images): An image depicting any branch of natural history provided that it shows the subject has been taken in its natural habitat without obvious evidence of man or his environment.  Images that have been manipulated (beyond minor retouching) to alter the truth of the original scene and/or have a strong pictorial element should not be entered in this section.
